Homeschool Art Project – Lines

Art Project: Lines

A line is an import element of art.  The line is a one dimensional object which artist use to visually represent two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art.  The line can very in width, direction, length, and solidity.  The line can move in any direction.

This week our project is simple, but it is setting the foundations for our art projects over the next few weeks.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 Sheet of Paper
  • Pencil, Pen, Marker, or Crayon
  • Ruler

(1) Start with a blank sheet.

(2) Use your pencil/Pen/Marker/Crayon and begin making lines.  Make them vertical, horizontal, diagonal.  Also, make them thick, thin, dotted, and curvy.  You can utilize a ruler if you want to make some of your lines straight.

Next week we will use the lines you created to create a piece of stencil artwork.

Thank you for reading! Please check out my recent Children’s picture Book “The Fifth Day Sea Creatures.” The 32 page book is the first in a series I am working on to explore the seven days of creation. this book highlights the majestic sea creatures God created on the fifth day of creation. The book is designed for young children, but the pictures can be enjoyed by everyone.
